A few of you might've noticed that I haven't updated my survey results in about a year. At the time I had about 5 dozen submissions. Things have changed a little, and I feel that the current figures reflect this shift.

These results were last updated April 19, 1998. As some of you might know, this page is updated very sporadically.

	#1 - Straight. While it started off on fairly shaky ground, the 4-bar swept into the lead with 186 votes. Time has once again proven that people just really dig that tetris finale.
	#2 - T. Overall utilitarianism has lost to spectacle once again. Still, T need not worry; it received 128 votes.
	#3 - Square. In a distant third with 13 votes is that controversial dark-horse, Square. Evidently some people like its resistance to change, or something.
	Others: L (12), Gamma (5), Z (4), S (2).

	#1 - Square. It looks like Square really pissed some people off - even though more people are willing to defend its integrity, it overcame the S and Z brothers and now rests with 121 'boos' to its name.
	#2 - S. The competition between its fierce rival, Z, is intense, but for the time being at least, S stinks out on top with 97 votes.
	#3 - Z. It was once considered the worst of all possible tetrads. Yet Z maintains its cool with 95 votes.

"It all goes back to the time I was playing gameboy on acid. See, one night, after I finished reading a book (by Jerry Chavez of all people) that I found at the local used book store, that I had nothing to do. So I decided to play tetris. After a few minutes of playing, I decided that this was not challenging enough, so I came up with the brilliant idea to handicap myself by dropping a few tabs of acid. I dropped four, which turned out to be a mistake and here's why: The game played as usual, but as soon as the acid kicked in it went to the next level! (if you know what I mean) First thing I noticed was that there were little particles, like microscopic bugs or something, that were pushing the blocks as they moved to the bottom of the gameboy. They would push and the blocks would speed up, and no matter which way I wanted the block to go, they would push it the opposite way. It was frustrating! So I thought of a cunning plan, I would trick the little microscopic jerk! s by trying to make the block move in the opposite direction that I wanted the blocks to go. This worked, but unfortunately this made them mad, and they started pushing the blocks down toward the bottom of the screen at a interstellar rate. I couldn't keep up, and the next thing I knew all the blocks had piled up at the bottom of the screen. And you know what? They were having an orgy! Ugh. I couldn't believe it. All the blocks were in a bunch at the bottom of the screen having sex with each other. I was shocked! Then I noticed something horrible. As I was distracted by the sinful behavior of the blocks within the tetris game, the microscopic bugs were marching out the sides of the gameboy and onto my hands and up my arms. I saw millions of them pouring out of the thing and burrowing under my skin making it move and lurch in different directions. It was unbareable. I wanted to scream , but I knew my parents would hear in the next room, and they didn't know I did acid. So I just watched in horror as they crawled into my hands, and the skin peeled away from my fingernails and knuckles. The gameboy screen itself was flashing in different colors of dark purple and green. I thought I was going to be sick! Then the gameboy melted away in my hands and onto the floor into a puddle of plastic, which all the blocks started to crawl out of. millions of blocks were pulling themselves out of this puddle of gameboy on my floor. It was a sight! Then they all got together, and I heard the straight piece say that they should all kill me for what I did to their home. (I didn't melt it, it did that on its own!!) But the square kept saying that they should try to talk to me, that they should ask why I did that to them, and that maybe I had a good reason for doing such a thing. But that straight piece just said that I didn't deserve to be treated with such respect, that I should be destroyed. And with that, millions of these blocks started to run at me and up may legs. They started bouncing on me, and pulling at me, and biting at me, all of them except the block piece that is. They just watched in horror. I tried frantically to get the blocks off me, but they wouldn't come off. I scratched at them and ran into the walls, and rolled on the floor. But they continued to crawl all over me, biting and bouncing and pulling. They even started to crawl into my mouth, eyes and ears. (It was horrific!) They all began singing this nasty little song, I can't remember it now, but it was nasty. And they were singing it at the top of their lungs, and all I could hear over their singing was a leaky faucet that was dripping consistently at my friends house several blocks away. I continued to struggle to free myself, but only succeeded in falling into my bed, which was all to happy to attack me with it's blankets, pillows, and sheets as well. It wrapped me up in its blanket arms and all I could do is stare at the ceiling as holes dialated larger and smaller again. Stains formed on the ceiling as well and grew dark. The tetrads quit their singing, and I could hear the static of the gameboy, lieing on the floor next to me, still on. (I thought this was particularly strange, seeing as it had melted.) The only thing else I remember about the incident was that I woke up late the next day and had a bunch of scratches and bruises left all over me. What a horrible experience. Needless to say, I've hated the straight piece and loved the block piece ever since. I can't blame the other pieces, because they were encited by that fucking straight piece. "My own experience-----and, NO, the long piece is not the #1 piece you suggest--their only use is to fill tall gaps, otherwise, you need 1). a flat space four blocks wide or 2). you risk putting a tall obstacle in the middle of the playfield. I don't play with a stategy. I don't look at what the next piece is going to be. I rarely try to get Tetrises. I play line by line, level by level, going by instince and reflex. And I am very successful this way. Oh..and about my high score [21 million]...I'm just guessing...I know that I have played games that lasted at the LEAST 4 hours.
